Excited fans have been pre-ordering the book which will contain Sophie’s tips for how to use cleaning to improve your state of mind

Such is her appeal that Sophie now makes appearances on daytime television along with the tools of her trade – which she has named Minkeh (an anti-bacterial cleaning pad), Dave (a fluffy duster) and Buddy (a microfibre kitchen cloth).

Some commenters have accused the likes of Mrs Hinch and the new wave of cleaning bloggers of being anti-feminist, while supporters argue there’s nothing wrong with cleaning if you enjoy the process.

‘I’m a worrier,’ Sophie explained. ‘For me, the way to keep my mind off what was worrying me would be to clean and organise something and love the end result. Cleaning helps me control my panic attacks, too.’
