Cook wows foodies with £1 hack for crispy roast potatoes and honey parsnips

A home cook has revealed her top tips for making delicious roast dinners on Facebook – and foodies went wild for her snaps.

Emmy Robinson, a beauty therapist who also runs a graze board business, knows a few things about how to make her food look and taste amazing.

The young Liverpudlian wowed social media users on the Rate my Roast page with a photo of her chicken dinner.

In the image, a golden skinned roast chicken sits atop crunchy, perfect spuds while her honey-coated carrots and parsnips look tender and super sticky.

Emmy topped the lot with some fresh rosemary for flavour.

And, she claims the secret to her perfect roast potatoes costs just £1.

Captioning the snap, Emmy said: “For my roasties I used the M&S roastie marinade it’s absolutely delicious & only £1!

“I love this page just read through & got some fab tips! I soak my parsnips in honey and carrots in garlic salt & herbs!”

You can snap up the Cook with M&S Roast Potato Seasoning on Ocado or at Marks & Spencer shops.

It contains a yummy mix of semolina, sea salt, black pepper and onion for crunchy, flavourful spuds.

We’d recommend parboiling your potatoes for seven minutes – what chef Tom Westerland calls the seven minute shuffle – before roughing them up in a colander and sprinkling with flour and the roastie marinade.

Then add to a casserole dish with hot oil in it and roast at 200 degrees until golden and crispy.

Emmy also shared her recipe for sticky honey-coated parsnips.

The home cook said: “PARSNIPS….. cutting any larger ones in half lengthways, then put in a large saucepan, cover with salted water, bring to the boil and cook for 5 mins.

“Drain in a colander and let them steam-dry for a few mins. Heat oven to 190C/170C fan/ gas 5.

“Squeeze honey all over parsnips and toss to coat, add some truffle salt.”

She continued: “Put the parsnips in a roasting tin with 2 tbsp olive oil & pepper. Roast for 20mins, turning halfway, until golden.

“Add more honey & Roast for another 20 mins untill crispy and golden!

“Season to taste and add some rosemary stems or whatever herbs you prefer!”

Over 850 people liked the business owner’s post and almost 200 commented.

One person wrote: “Wow! That looks yummylicious!”

While another joked: “That's not just a roast… that's a M&S roast.”

A third added: “Looks absolutely delicious.”
