Daniel Radcliffe is responding to those false rumors that he tested positive for coronavirus — and he at least had a sense of humor about it.
During an interview with the Australia radio show Smallzy's Surgery on Wednesday, he sounded off on the hoax.
"I walked into the hair and makeup room on a play yesterday, and the makeup artist was like, 'My niece has just texted me and told me you've got corona,'" he said, adding that he was shown the fake tweet that started the rumor.
"I think it's just because I look ill all the time, so you can believably say it about me," he joked. "Cause I'm very pale. But, you know, flattered they chose me."
On Tuesday, an unverified fake BBC account tweeted, "BREAKING: Daniel Radcliffe tests positive for coronavirus. The actor is said to be the first famous person to be publicly confirmed," along with a link that led back to the BBC’s landing page.
The tweet was shared hundreds of times before it was removed and the account suspended, and while Radcliffe’s team confirmed to InStyle that day that the news was "Not true. Fake," the internet being the internet meant that many people still fell for it.
Thankfully, Radcliffe is completely safe and healthy — and seems to have at least had a bit of a laugh over the matter.
