How Camilla Parker Bowles Just Signaled She Is Ready to Be Queen

Camilla Parker Bowles showed that she is ready to be Queen at a recent diplomat reception at Buckingham Palace. Camilla rocked one of Queen Elizabeth’s priciest tiaras at the event as she mingled with guests alongside her husband, Prince Charles. Not only does the headpiece prove that Camilla is taking things up a notch, but it also shows how close she and Queen Elizabeth have grown over the years.

Camilla Parker Bowles dazzles in a gorgeous tiara

Camilla joined her husband and a slew of top royals at this year’s Christmas reception at Buckingham Palace. While Queen Elizabeth and Kate Middleton rocked their own favorite tiaras, Camilla stole the show with the Greville Tiara.

According to Express, the tiara is worth over $3 million and was donated to the royal family by Hon.Dame Margaret Helen Greville. She was a friend of King George VI and QueenElizabeth and gave it to the couple when she passed away in 1942.

When the Queen Mother died in 2002, the tiara made its wayinto the royal collection. But before her death, the Greville Tiara wasreportedly the Queen Mother’s favorite piece – and it looks like it might beCamilla Parker Bowles’ go-to headpiece as well.

Queen Elizabeth is the one who gives permission to wearitems from her collection, so it was a pretty big deal that Camilla got to rockthe Greville Tiara at the event.

Is Queen Elizabeth thinking about retiring?

With Queen Elizabeth turning 94 years old next year, thereis a lot of talk about her retiring by the time she hits 95. Buckingham Palacehas not confirmed the rumors, but there are signs that Her Majesty is slowingdown.

Over the past few years, Queen Elizabeth has been reducing the number of royal engagements she attends and giving more responsibility to Prince Charles, who is first in line to the throne. This allows Charles to gain more experience and should make for a smoother transition once Queen Elizabeth is gone.

Her husband, Prince Philip, retired when he reached 95 yearsold and has been enjoying retirement for the past few years. And if insidesources are correct, Queen Elizabeth has been thinking a lot about retirementlately and might step down come 2021.

“Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make surewhen the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless,” an insidershared. “I understand the queen has given the matter considerable thought andbelieves that, if she is still alive at 95, she will seriously consider passingthe reign to Charles.”

The insider added that Her Majesty has been talking about stepping down and giving the crown to Prince Charles for quite some time. Based on their schedules, it appears as though a plan has been in place for several years.

What happens to Camilla once Charles is on the throne?

Once Charles takes the throne, Camilla Parker Bowles will benamed his Queen Consort at the time of his coronation. Although she will not bereferred to as the Queen of the United Kingdom, Camilla will enjoy all of therespect and responsibilities that come with the office.

Although it sounds like Queen Elizabeth is thinking about retiring, the only way Charles will become King in that scenario is if she abdicates the throne. If she does not want to abdicate, then Charles could step in as a regent.

If that happened, Charles would essentially take over all ofthe responsibilities of the monarchy but will not be crowned the King of theUnited Kingdom until Queen Elizabeth passes away or abdicates.

Camilla Parker Bowles prepares to be Queen

While Charles prepares to be the next King, Camilla is alsodoing her part to ensure a smooth transition.
