A student “almost died” after being brutally attacked in a sick hazing ritual as a teenager.
Nikki Chu, a transgender model, was left with bruises all over her body after being burnt and beaten by her peers.
So she eventually got 90% of her body covered in tattoos to cover the scars.
Nikki was viciously attacked by a group of nine men during a college hazing ritual in the Philippines.
The student endured the beating as a teenage boy to become a member of a university fraternity.
She told the Daily Star: "In that ritual I almost died. They had an idea I wasn’t straight and I was dating a woman which made it worse for other men in the fraternity who liked her."
She continued: “I was punched and kicked over and over.
"I was the only one initiated that day which made it worse because they couldn’t put their anger on three or four people, just me.
“They dropped a coin in charcoal until it turned red. They laid me down and dropped the coin onto my chest. It was just unbearable.
“The damage was very bad and my legs and thighs were split open. I needed dozens of stitches."
Nikki, who is from the Philippines, said she regretted joining the fraternity and said it was more like a gang.
To cover up the scars from the vile initiation, Nikki braved the tattooist's needle.
Her first tattoo was a phoenix on her chest – after a plastic surgeon warned that surgery would make her scar look even worse.
She went on to cover herself in ink – including her head.
Her tatts represent a full body suit symbolising the Yakuzas, a Japanese criminal organisation.
Nikki said: “I am probably the only trans woman in the entire country who is 90% tattooed…
“My tattoos have hid a lot of the imperfections in my body.”
After getting her hotel and restaurant management degree, Nikki went to the US before moving to Switzerland.
She only transitioned from a male to female two years ago when she was 49.
Now 51, she said: “I was a very happy gay man and I had a Filipino lover for 14 years.
“But one day I woke up, looked in the mirror, and I couldn’t recognise myself. My story is not your usual trans one where all her life she wanted to be a woman.
“I was comfortable but that day I thought this isn’t me.”
However, Nikki said the decision cost her a lot after her boyfriend and family members ceased contact.
But she went ahead with feminisation surgery – including a face lift, chin implants, nose lift, liposuction and breast and bum implants.
She is now based in Switzerland and is planning to launch an OnlyFans page.
The tattoo model said her appearance leads to people staring at her in the street and she explained that the transition has been challenging.
She said: “I thought I’d probably be an outcast in the trans community, something of a freak.
“And to be honest I’ve not been truly accepted. I fight every day to inform people and it’s heartbreaking for me.
“We’re not predators who go after kids or your brothers or sisters.
“I just want people to understand that there’s nothing wrong with people like me."
