Inside Lisa Scott Lee’s 17 year marriage to Johnny Shentall-Lee

Lisa Scott-Lee first shot to fame as part of iconic band Steps, but it wasn't just fame she found back in the 90s.

The singer met her now husband Johnny in 1999, when he successfully auditioned to be a backing dancer with the band.

The loved-up pair have remained together ever since the day they met, and have now celebrated their 17th anniversary.

Lisa described their first meeting: “I was just blown away. And then he danced and that was it. I was gone. He had me. I was attracted to him straight away.”

Lisa and Johnny tied the knot in 2004, and share two children together. Their first child, Jaden, was born in 2008, and they then welcomed daughter Star Lily the following year.

Lisa, 45, and Johnny, 43, took the plunge and relocated in 2011, choosing Dubai as their new home.

Initially, they were uncertain about how long they would stay there, but after buying a luxurious villa on The Palm they made UAE their forever home.

Following the move, the began to put their respective talents to good use and start their own business.

Lisa and Johnny launched Dubai Performing Arts Academy in 2014, with Lisa taking on the role of head teacher.

While for most married couples it would be a lot of pressure to work together, Lisa says it works smoothly for them thanks to one golden rule.

Keeping romance and business separate is key for the couple. The Steps star said: "We’ve made a rule that there’s no business in the bedroom. We talk about the business a lot and we used to wake up and discuss business decisions.”

She added: “We work together, we live together, we share an office together . . . I don’t know how we do it. But we’ve just celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary.

“We do argue, because we’re both very passionate and quite fiery, but mostly it’s easy.”

While their marriage remains unbreakable, Lisa has spoken out about the strain of having to leave her family for long periods of time.

With Steps reforming in 2017, Lisa now needs to spend extended periods of time in the UK when they are performing.

She spoke of the difficulty of having to leave her family, saying: "It’s like any working parent, you’ve got that element of guilt. We’re working for our children, but to be away from them seems to get harder each time.”

Lisa will next head to the UK in November, as Steps prepare for their next tour.
