Jamie Oliver often wows his fans with his delicious food creations.
However, not everyone was a fan of his latest offering.
With Easter approaching, the British chef and restaurateur decided to share a photo of his hot cross buns that he made.
However, they were far from traditional.
The buns are usually sweet and spiced and are made with dried fruit.
However, Jamie, 45, decided to go for a savoury take as he went for cheese and chive buns.
He shared a photo of the buns with his 8.5million followers on Instagram of the buns fresh out of the oven.
Jamie then wrote: "Freshly baked hot cross buns… but these aren't just any hot cross buns, these are CHEESE & CHIVE hot cross buns!! Who would like this recipe??"
Despite the post racking up more than 55,000 likes, and getting love from none other than Jennifer Anniston, some weren't happy with the non-traditional bake.
One told him: "You know, I know food evolves, but I'm not so convinced by anything that's not a traditional hot cross buns…"
While another added: "No thank you. Non traditional hot cross buns are not for me."
A third chimed in: "Absolutely love your cooking Jamie but these are too wrong! I’m a hot cross bun purist."
Despite some backlash, many of Jamie's fans were tempted by the buns.
One exclaimed: "What a treat. Yummy."
While another pleaded: "Yes please to the recipe!"
Jamie wasn't done there yet though, he then decided to post another non-traditional hot cross bun recipe which got foodies in a frenzy again – his hot cross bun loaf.
He wrote: "So you guys went mad for and really want the recipe for my cheese and chive hot cross buns I shared yesterday so thought I'd share another cool and delicious way to make hot cross buns using the same principle recipe with just a few tweaks…
"This is my hot cross bun LOAF oh yes!!!! Recipe link in my bio."
Again fans were divided, as one wrote: "I know it’s a loaf but it looks so wrong to be sliced that way."
However, another added: "I see butter. I see bread. I’m in."
TikTok users were also in meltdown this week over hot cross lamb burgers for Easter.
Would you try them?
