Dorothy Gale may not be a princess, but her shimmering ruby footwear definitely gave off those vibes. It was the same mood Kate Middleton was channeling with her latest outfit, where she paired shimmering heels with a matching clutch. She wasn't far from home and she didn't manage to smash a wicked witch, but it wouldn't be surprising if she clicked her heels together a few times just for kicks.
The Duchess and Prince William stepped out in high style to attend a performance of Dear Evan Hansen at the Noël Coward Theatre in London, which was held on behalf of The Royal Foundation. Middleton wore a demure Eponine dress with long sleeves and shimmering rhinestone buttons. It was the perfect way to let her accessories take the spotlight — which they did. Middleton's pointy Jimmy Choo stilettos were covered in metallic silver glitter (so, maybe more Tin Man than any other Oz character) and her minaudière had the same shimmering finish. The last touches were her sapphire engagement ring and dangling diamond earrings.
People notes that Dear Evan Hansen fits right into the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's charity work. The play revolves around a character that "struggles social anxiety and strongly wishes to connect with his peers," which is in step with William and Kate’s foundation. The Royal Foundation works to make mental health part of everyday conversations, not something that people have to conceal.
The magazine adds that William spoke about mental health at an event earlier this month that involved soccer and foosball.
"Imagine if we talked about mental health as much as we talk about football [soccer]," he said. "And we will all face ups and downs in life, which will affect it. It's time we start taking our mental fitness as seriously as we do our physical fitness, and that starts with talking."
