Though Kate Middleton’s hair transformations have been subtle for the most part, they always make an impact. They also have the ability to sway a nation, causing huge spikes in Google searches and requests for similar looks at hair salons.
If you’re wondering which of her many styles has been her most influential, we now know that answer thanks to hair expertsLongevita, who analysed Google Trends data to establish which of the Duchess of Cambridge’s hairstyles sparked the highest amount of online searches.
Coming out top of the list is Kate’s full fringe from September 2015. This look was searched 426% above the average search volume of her other styles. Unsurprisingly, Kate’s second most influential hairstyle is from her wedding day in April 2011. The Duchess broke a 350-year-old tradition by wearing her hair down for the occasion, which prompted searches to rise 336% above average.
The Duchess’ third most viral hairstyle is from 2013, when she posed for snaps outside London’s St Mary’s Hospital after giving birth to Prince George. The bouncy blowdry saw searches for “Kate Middleton hair” rise 321% above the average monthly volume. It’s not hard to see why! Kate looked incredible with glowing skin and a flattering baby blue summer dress.
Longevita also did the same research for Meghan Markle, to establish which of her many incredible looks have come out top in online searches.
Again, unsurprisingly, Meghan’s most popular hairstyle is the sleek up-do she wore for her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018. Searches soared 733% above the average for this particular bridal style.
The second most influential hairstyle is her classic braided bun look from March 2021, when she sat down with Oprah Winfrey for that shock interview. Searches for Meghan’s hair from the televised interview spiked 234% above the average, with people wondering whether she’d had hair extensions fitted.
There you have it – hopefully a flashback at these top looks helps inspire you for your next salon appointment!
