Mrs Crunch reveals her top nibbles and brill booze for your Christmas bash

Try these suggestions for a selection to suit all tastes.



Festive savoury rolls


  • 350g turkey mince
  • 70g brie, sliced
  • 6 tsp cranberry sauce
  • 300g puff pastry
  • 2 tsp bouillon powder
  • 1 egg

METHOD: Preheat the oven to gas mark 6/200C/fan 180C. Mix the turkey mince and the bouillon powder together until thoroughly mixed.

Unroll the pastry and divide into two, lengthways.

Spread the cranberry sauce down the middle of each length of pastry. Then add a layer of brie followed by a final layer of turkey mince mix.

Roll the pastry over until the seam is on the underneath.

Cut each roll into eight, mark each top with a small slit and wash with egg before sprinkling with ground pepper.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve and enjoy.

Give your finger-food a festive theme with star-shaped snacks.

Asda salted caramel flavour pretzel stars, £1. Morrisons 12 gluten-free cheese star selection pack, £2.50.

Smoked salmon & avocado shots


  • 120g smoked salmon
  • 150g light cream cheese
  • 8 tbsp creme fraiche
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped, plus extra to garnish
  • 3 avocados, peeled and stoned
  • 1 lemon, juice only
  • 1 pack breadsticks

METHOD: Snip the smoked salmon into tiny pieces and place in a mixing bowl with the cream cheese, 4 tbsp creme fraiche and dill. Season and divide between serving glasses.

Blitz the avocado with the remaining creme fraiche and lemon juice, then spoon on top of each salmon shot and top with dill.

Serve with breadsticks.

Chilli cheese macaroni pies


  • 500g macaroni
  • 6 slices chilli cheese
  • 250g extra-mature cheddar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 180ml whole milk, warmed
  • 150g breadcrumbs
  • 1 bunch chives
  • Salt and pepper to season

METHOD: Preheat the oven to 170C/fan 150C/ gas mark 3 and line a muffin tin with muffin cases.

Cook the macaroni as per the instructions on the pack. Cut the chilli cheese into small pieces and mix with the grated cheddar.

Drain the macaroni, add the milk and beaten eggs, then stir until smooth, adding most of the cheese (leave enough to sprinkle on top) and the chopped chives.

Spoon the mixture into the muffin cases, pile the mixture high then sprinkle with the remaining cheese and breadcrumbs.

Place in the oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown on top. Serve and enjoy warm.
