Mum’s clever trick to help children fight coronavirus praised by other parents

It's now (hopefully) been drummed into us all that regularly washing our hands is vital in helping to guard against the spread of coronavirus.

With Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday announcing that schools would remain open as sending children home would ' cause more harm than good ', it's so important that we ensure our children are maintaining good hygiene.

It can be difficult to convince them to wash their hands as much as they should be doing – but a mum has shared a simple trick to help keep an eye on things, as reported by the Liverpool Echo .

She shared the parenting hack on the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page , where it racked up thousands of likes as other parents vowed to use the 'genius' idea.

Before her three children head off to school, she draws an emoji on each of their hands – one with two hearts, one with a happy and sad face, and one with the poo emoji.

She captioned the image: "Drew emojis on my kids’ hands this morning and told them I want to see them washed off by pick up so I know they’re washing their hands."

If the emojis are gone by the time they come home, she knows they are making an effort to give their hands a good scrub when they are out of the house.

She added an update later on with the message 'two out of three', showing her two boys returning home with their emojis no longer visible, but her three-year-old girl hadn't quite managed to scrub it off.

Others loved the simple trick, with one suggesting that every parent should be doing the same thing.

One replied to say: "Amazing idea!! And emojis fun for the kids. Genius!"

A second said: "I'm doing this in the morning. Great idea!!"

A third replied: "I think I might colour my kids hands in in that case! But this is a fab idea! Totally stealing it!"

Another commented: "Had to screen shot and share!! What a fantastic idea."
