A LOTTERY winner kept ignoring missed calls – only to finally ring back the number to discover they had won £14million.
Ticket holders were urged to check their phones after Australian lottery officials struggled to get hold of two lucky jackpot winners.
Organisers said the new millionaires, from Queensland and Western Australia, may not have known their life was about to change forever.
Lotto spokesman Matt Hart said repeated attempts to call the Queensland winner, who bought their ticket at The Lott website, had been unsuccessful.
But the mum from Rockhampton, who is in her 40s, eventually looked at her phone and called back.
“I tried to reach out to her last night, but her phone was on silent,” The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart told Sunrise.
“This morning she noticed those missed calls, gave me a buzz back and that’s when she realised she is $25million (£14m) richer.”
Mr Hart said the woman was “screaming, shaking and crying out to other family members who were asleep.”
"Oh my God, oh my God, I'm shaking," she was quoted as saying, adding: "We've won the lottery, we've won $25million.
"I'm in my pyjamas. We haven't even had breakfast yet."
Explaining how the news has sunk in, the woman said: "I even joked to my husband that it might be The Lott calling me.
"But that was a joke. Trust me, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd win $25million.
"This will just change our lives.
"I've already cuddled my family three times while talking to you.
"We haven't been having much fun in recent times. Now, we're going to have a nice life."
The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, said she will buy her husband a new car, explaining: "He drives around an ancient old car.
"I'm going to get myself a new house.
"I can only think of practical things at the moment. It just doesn't feel real.
"I think this has completely derailed my day. I'll be looking at this ticket all day."

Earlier, Mr Hart issued a plea for lottery players to check their phones.
"If you see a number of missed calls on your phone, you could be the winner we're trying to contact.
"You may not think it's possible you're the division one winner we're searching for, but if you purchased an online entry into this week's Oz Lotto draw that you haven't checked yet, you're in with a chance.
"We're urging all Oz Lotto players to check their entries as soon as possible."
Lotterywest will also be getting in contact with the Western Australian winner or winners.
Another 892,135 ticketholders won prizes across divisions two to seven, collecting more than £9.95million.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1458 on January 25, 2022 were 17, 31, 22, 11, 26, 36 and 4. The supplementary numbers were 16 and 6.
Meanwhile in the UK, a whopping £30million was up for grabs last night in the EuroMillions draw which could make you as rich as pop star Dua Lipa.
The jackpot would see winners claim a fortune to rival rapper 50 Cent, who is estimated to be worth £29million.
