People who married non-humans – from mum who wed tree to man’s sex doll lover

Many people envisage getting married one day.

And while the image of the big day will vary for everyone – most agree that the bride or groom of their dreams will at least be human.

However, believe it or not, there are exceptions.

Here we take a look at the men and women who have defied convention to marry non-humans.

From a bodybuilder who wed (and subsequently divorced) a sex doll to a woman who says her soulmate is a tree, these are the most extreme examples.

Sex doll

Bodybuilder Yuri Tolochko is often accused of being a pervert because he sleeps with sex dolls daily.

He first became famous after marrying a sex doll called Margo at a bonkers ceremony in December 2019.

Dozens of guests attended while video footage showed Yuri, from Kazakhstan, slipping a ring on Margo’s finger before planting a kiss on her.

And during their first dance as husband and wife, many may have thought the love would last forever.

But the unusual relationship has since ended after Yuri cheated on her with a strange object.

He eventually divorced her to enter into a polyamorous marriage with plastic models, Luna and Lola.

Earlier this year Yuri, 36, spoke to Daily Star about his love of sex dolls, saying: “You are not harming anyone, and no one will write a letter to the police on you.

“Someone may like the fact that the doll is motionless and does not react.

“It's akin to necrophilia, but again, a doll is an eco-friendly way to fulfil such a need.”

Hologram

Japanese man Akihiko Kondo has been married for four years… to a hologram of a fictional character.

But last month we told you how the wacky marriage was on the rocks after a software update prevented his wife from speaking.

He married the hologram of Hatsune Miku, a computer-generated pop singer, in 2018 in front of 40 guests at a £13,500 ceremony.

Akihiko, a school administrator, describes himself as a fictosexual – someone sexually attracted to fictional characters.

And he believes romantic connections between humans and holograms should not be stigmatised.

He said: “It’s simply not right, it’s as if you were trying to talk a gay man into dating a woman, or a lesbian into a relationship with a man.

“I believe we must consider all kinds of love and all kinds of happiness.”

Tree

Kate Cunningham married a tree in a bark-ing mad ceremony in 2019.

The 37-year-old former teaching assistant visits the tree in Rimrose Valley Country Park in Sefton, Merseyside, three to five times a week.

She claims the elder tree was “the one” because of its earthly energy.

And after the unforgettable wedding to her wooden soulmate, the mum-of-two even changed her name to Elder to deepen the connection with her partner.

Kate – who has a real-life boyfriend who is accepting of her marriage – said: “People still ask questions and are still unsure of my motivations. I get asked, ‘has being married changed your life for the better?’ Yes, it has!

“‘Do you love the tree?’ Yes, I do!”

Ghost

There is a lot going on in the life of Kathleen Roberts – who believes she is the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe.

But perhaps even more wild is that she claims to be married to the ghost of Michael Jackson – who uses her to eat cookies.

The medium, from the US, wrote of her courtship: “Michael stays in me all the time so he comes to the restroom with me and calls these special bonding moments 'toiletries'.

"He sings and dances possessed in me (or channeling if you refer to it professionally). He talks to me a lot, which is not what I expected from the shy man I saw on tv all of those years I was a fan.

"He stays possessed in me (relaxed not channeling and just enjoying living through me and communicating with me as a husband).

“So he likes to eat in me. He loves cookies. He cusses a lot more to I’d expect him to as a former fan."

Despite being hitched to the King of Pop’s ghost, Kathleen said the Beat It star had not shown an interest in consummating the marriage.

Eiffel Tower

For a long time, Erika Labrie has been open about being an Objectum Sexual – meaning she develops relationships with inanimate objects.

But the woman was ruthlessly ridiculed in 2007 after changing her surname to Eiffel.

This was after a commitment ceremony with the iconic Paris landmark.

Erika – whose story was told in the documentary Married to the Eiffel Tower – said she was in a relationship with the Eiffel Tower for 10 years.

After the breakup, the American said: “I have accepted defeat. However Eiffel will always have a place in my heart.

“That is something the media cannot carve out of my chest. Though at times it feels as if they have tried.”

Erika claims she knew she had OS tendencies since childhood when she developed feelings for a local bridge while her teenage pals began dating one another.
