We still don’t know which candidate has won the 2020 US presidential election. Australians awoke this morning to better news for Joe Biden, who picked up the key states of Wisconsin and Michigan.
Although Biden has a clearer path to victory than President Donald Trump, either candidate could still win. The battleground states of Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania are still to be called.
After falsely claiming victory on election night, Trump spent the day disputing results that showed Biden reducing his lead and accusing the Democrats of electoral fraud.
He has demanded a recount in Wisconsin and filed lawsuits to stop counting in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
National editor Tory Maguire and North American correspondent Matthew Knott reflect on election night and discuss the accusations of "electoral fraud" as well as the role of mail-in votes.
