A wealthy teenager was left gobsmacked after seeing a strapped-for-cash family spend just £15 on their Christmas dinner – using a deep fat fryer.
April, 18, lives with her parents in a £9million seven-bedroom mansion in Buckinghamshire.
Her family spend up to £10,000 a year on Christmas but she decided to give all that up to spend a festive weekend with the Burke family on Channel 5’s Rich Kids Go Skint.
The Burkes – made up of mum Lindsay, dad Alan and children Clayton, 16, Wyatt, 11, and four-year-old Trinity – get by on just £160 a week.
It means they have only £15 spare to spend on their Christmas dinner.

They cut costs by using turkey instead of chicken and also have the unorthodox method of frying their meal in a deep fat fryer to save on electricity bills.
A clip from last night’s show captured the moment April found out how the family were forced to eat.
“We’ve never had a fried Christmas dinner before,” she says.
“I don’t think there’s anything in our Christmas dinner before that has been fried.”
She then tries and fails to peel a potato with dad Alan laughing.
Alan explains: “They're good for the roast potatoes as if you put them in the oven they take quite a long time and electric, so it costs a fortune.
“You want to invest in a fryer, it's easier.”
After helping deliver the fried meal, April admitted she “wouldn’t be putting a deep fat fryer on her Christmas list”.
April’s family’s fortune is down to her dad selling his extremely successful IT business.

It means they live a life of luxury – with April having five wardrobes alone filled with designer clothes.
But it is a different story for the Burkes.
Dad Alan was a successful children’s entertainer earning around £800 a week before he suffered several strokes and a throat condition, which forced him to leave his job.
Lindsay also had to quit her catering career to provide full-time care to her husband and their three children.
Rich Kids Go Skint is available to watch on My5 now.
