Alex Hird admitted she has spent a long time experimenting with roast potatoes, but only recently discovered the ‘the perfect method’.

It involves using canned small potatoes from the supermarket in an air fryer.

She said it was a stunning success and yielded the ‘best’ batch of roast potatoes she’s ever made.

‘Oh my WOW, who knew tinned potatoes could turn out so good! P.S. Finally got an air fryer and it’s changed my life,’ she captioned her now-viral video tutorial.

Alex used the tinned potatoes, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and olive oil to make the dish.

She first drained the water from the tin and dried the potatoes off with a paper towel.

She then placed the potatoes in a bowl, added the spices, and mixed them in with her hands.

Alex placed the potatoes into the air fryer for 20 minutes at 190C.

The dish came out looking crispy and delicious.

However, it is important to note that if the air fryer gets too hot the tiny potatoes can explode.

‘Make sure to prick them before you put them in,’ a woman said.

‘Mine exploded and it burnt my hand.’

Another warned that the heat needed to be less than 200C to prevent the potatoes from exploding.

Home cooks vowed to attempt the meal soon.

‘I’m usually not a fan of tinned potatoes, but those look delicious!’ a woman said

Another added, ‘I never thought of using an air fryer to make roast potatoes, I will try this next time.’

While others shared helpful tips.

‘I chop mine into little squares and serve with sour cream! Delicious,’ a home chef revealed.

‘If you microwave them first for five minutes the texture inside will be even better,’ a mum said helpfully.

A third added, ‘They look lush! But if you squash them with a fork before you put them in the air fryer, it adds extra crisp.’
