If you’ve been spending your Saturday nights watching celebrities strut their stuff on the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor, you’ll probably have noticed that costumes and hair are taken very seriously.

The much-loved dancing competition would be nothing without the glitz and glam of feathery skirts, rhinestones-encrusted bodices and bold hair and make-up looks.

And this weekend was no different, as the celebs took centre stage for a movie-inspired episode that saw the A-listers impress viewers with some thrilling choreography and movie moment costumes.

EastEnders star Maisie Smith, 19, ditched her signature fiery locks for a Disney look, as she sported a perfectly styled blonde wig in homage to Frozen’s Elsa.

Luckily for us, Strictly hair stylist, Anna Winterburn, took to Instagram after the show to reveal the vast number of steps that went into creating Maisie’s Elsa wig – and it’s super impressive.

In a series of snaps, Anna reveals exactly how the wig was created, and it involves a weighty wig, strategically placed sectioning clips, rollers for volume, and, we presume, a whole lot of hairspray.

First, Maisie's glam team used hair rollers on the blonde wig to add a boost of volume before styling, and then applied more long blonde extensions to create Maisie’s Elsa-inspired braid.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the Strictly star’s hairstyle was the budge-proof waves that made up the top of the wig – a nod to Elsa’s wind-swept locks.

Anna shared several snaps of this process, where she used sectioning clips to set the hair in different positions, creating the illusion of movement.

We weren’t the only Strictly fans in awe of Maisie’s look, as many fans commented on the behind-the-scenes snaps posted by Anna.

“Amazing work, I bet there’s some weight in there,” one follower said.

“She looks amazing. You did an incredible job on her,” another wrote.

Though the soap star dazzled us this week with her elegant take on the American Smooth, in true Maisie-style, the actress posted a hilarious snap on her Instagram page shortly after the show, showing her sitting open-legged, eating pizza – absolute goals.
