This is the most popular time to swipe right on Tinder

At least singles have something to look forward to on Mondays.

Researchers at Tinder took a look at their user activity in the past year and found that the most popular time to look for matches is on Monday at 9 p.m. EST.

Darcy Sterling, Tinder’s dating expert, told Insider that she was surprised by this factoid because “using Tinder takes people away from focusing on what they don’t want and it helps them focus on what they do want.”

They also found that January and August feature the highest levels of user activity. Meanwhile, the app saw spikes in swiping during music festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella.

Earlier this year, Tinder unveiled its Top Picks feature, which lets premium members to sort out their preferences using tags. The app found that women used the tag “engineer” to specify their matches, while men were most likely to choose the “adventurer” tag. Sterling told Insider that their stats could mean a shift in dating culture.

“Young millennials are enjoying the adventures in dating and are not settling down just to settle down, but rather, they’re learning about themselves and what they want,” she said.
