A woman whose fertility battle left This Time Next Year viewers in tears on Tuesday night has revealed she is pregnant. 

Fiona Walker, a school teacher from Salford, vowed to lose eight stone at the beginning of 2018, so she would be eligible to start fertility treatment this year. 

Returning to the weight loss special of the ITV show at the beginning of this year, Fiona revealed she had lost almost six stone and, in a twist, had become naturally pregnant just months ago.

Sadly, Fiona revealed she had lost the baby, leaving audience members in tears at the sad news. 

But just after the show aired last night, Fiona took to Twitter to announce the happy news that she was pregnant with a ‘rainbow baby’.

Sharing a before and after picture of her weight loss online,  she wrote: ‘So surreal seeing myself on TV! Thank you so, so much to the show for giving me the incentive I needed. I can now say I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with a baby boy!’.

Crediting the show with her transformation, she then added: ‘Thank you so much for giving me the motivation to stick to my pledge.

‘What the show didn’t reveal was I am currently expecting a rainbow baby. Due 9th June. If it wasn’t for This Time Next Year I’d be in the same place I was two years ago’.

The show, presented by Davina McCall, followed a the stories of a range of participants eager to lose weight. 

But the story that struck a chord with audience members was that of Fiona, who told how he got married in 2015 and started trying for a family soon afterwards, but suffering from Polycistic Ovary Syndrome meant she was struggling to conceive.

Doctors told Fiona that they couldn’t do anything to help her until her BMI (Body Mass Index) dropped significantly. 

Speaking ahead of her one year weight loss journey last year, Fiona said: ‘Doctors told me they can’t do anything else for me until my BMI hits 30. 

‘Currently it is 48, but it would mean everything to me. Having a baby is the last piece of the jigsaw, I’ve achieved everything else in my career and love life.’

Admitting that she’s a yo-yo dieter, Fiona vowed to remember why she was choosing to eat healthily for the next year.

And fast-forwarding to this year, the school teacher’s incredible weight loss was unveiled. 

Returning to the show, Fiona revealed she had lost just under six stone. 

Fiona’s revelation of a miscarriage left the audience both in the studio (pictured above) and at home emotional, with some taking to Twitter to share their heartbreak.

Admitting it had been a tough year, she told how she began by running with her husband, before going on a calorie controlled pre-prepared meal plan.

Explaining that she still had two stone to go to qualify for fertility, Fiona then dropped a bombshell- revealing that she had fallen pregnant naturally a few months ago. 

Stunning the audience, she said: ‘Unfortunately I lost the baby. I had a miscarriage. I didn’t know I was ovulating. The wright loss kick-started my body and I conceived naturally.’

And her revelation left the audience both in the studio and at home emotional, with some taking to Twitter to share their heartbreak.

But seeing the positive side, brave Fiona continued knowingly: ‘I never in a million years thought I could conceive naturally. It’s flipped the pledge now. I’m going to keep going. This isn’t the end for me.’
