PHILIPPE COUTINHO will not be returning to the Premier League after the English window slammed shut yesterday.
Barcelona and the Brazilian's representatives held talks with both Arsenal and Tottenham, but Coutinho showed a reluctance to leave the Nou Camp.
However, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo report that it remains likely that the attacker will move before the end of the European transfer window, as his future holds the key to that of Neymar.
Barca are desperate to offload Coutinho in a bid to bring his compatriot – currently at French champions Paris Saint-Germain – back to La Liga.
The report also claims that the attacker 'would not be disgusted' by the prospect of joining PSG in a potential club-swap with Neymar.
Bayern are also apparently interested after the recent injury to their main transfer target, Leroy Sane.
ARSENAL sold Alex Iwobi to Everton for £40m yesterday.
Here's how David Brent reacted to the news:
CHARLIE NICHOLAS is backing Arsenal to finish third in the Premier League after a stellar transfer window.
Deadline day was eventful in north London, with Kieran Tierney and David Luiz arriving from Celtic and Chelsea respectively, for a combined outlay of over £30m.
Tierney and Luiz joined club-record signing Nicolas Pepe, as well as Dani Ceballos and Gabriel Martinelli, in an impressive list of new recruits for the Gunners heading into the new season.
And Nicholas expects their business to pay dividends in the coming campaign.
“The Gunners surprised me with the signing of Nicolas Pepe, they will be very exciting going forward after that,” he told Sky Sports.
“I am glad that Laurent Koscielny has been shipped out, Carl Jenkinson has gone, so the ones Arsenal don't need are going.
“Is David Luiz better than what Arsenal have? Absolutely. On his day he is world class. On another day he is an absolutely ridiculous defender.
“I am just looking for improvement from Arsenal. They have to challenge for the top four after blowing it on a number of occasions last season.
“Arsenal are not going to challenge for the title… I think they will finish third.”

Arsenal signed Kieran Tierney ONLY after agreeing to meet Celtic's sell-on demands, according to reports.
Tierney arrived in north London after securing a £25million move from the Scottish champions – but the Hoops played hard ball over the sale of their exciting academy graduate.
Gunners negotiators were forced to accept a 15 per cent sell-on clause, meaning that percentage of any future fee Arsenal receive for the 22-year old will be due to Celtic.
