    ZIYECH CRITICISMS

Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech has explained that he stands by his criticism of Dutch football legend Marco van Basten.

Ziyech played under Van Basten at Heerenveen early in his career and remembered an incident which convinced him that the former AC Milan star would not be able to cut it as a manager.

He said: “He didn’t communicate at all. I realised at AZ that he was not suitable for it (coaching). He already had that at Heerenveen.”

    DECLAN PRICE

West Ham are reportedly preparing large contract offer to star man Declan Rice in the hope of fending off Chelsea's interest in his signature.

The Hammers are set to offer Rice a new deal which would double his £60,000-a-week wages.

Rice was linked with a £60million move to Stamford Bridge in the summer but a move never materialised.

    VAR FURY

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has questioned the use of VAR after the Blues were denied a penalty in their draw against Manchester United.

United captain Harry Maguire prevented Azpilicueta getting his head to a free-kick first during the opening 45 minutes of the game.

Speaking on the decision not to award the penalty he said: “‘The referee can make the decision, the VAR is there and it is very difficult sometimes for the VAR to say yes or no, but I encourage more for the referee to go to the monitor.

“Martin Atkinson is the main referee so he has to take the main decision and the monitor is there on the side to help him.”

    LAMPARD FRUSTRATION

Frank Lampard has questioned the decision not to award a penalty to his Chelsea side for Harry Maguire's foul during their draw against Manchester United.

Lampard feels the Blues should have had a spot-kick against United after the Maguire wrapped his arm around the neck and shoulders of Cesar Azpilicueta during an aerial challenge.

Lampard said: “I thought it was a clear penalty. I couldn't see it at the time from where I was standing and those ones are hard calls for the referee. It's why we brought VAR into the game, but VAR was very quick to dismiss it.”

    MAGNIFICENT MENDY

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks that Chelsea's new keeper Edouard Mendy was the difference in his side's draw with the Blues at Old Trafford.

Mendy showed his ability with some superb stops throughout the game.

Speaking on his performance Solskjaer said: “Two good teams, quality in either end of the pitch. You can see their keeper today, I think he’s the match winner.”

    GOOD MORNING, BLUES FANS

Chelsea could make a £75million swoop for Juventus star Paulo Dybala next summer, according to Tuttosport.

The Argentine forward, 26, has entered the final two years of his contract in Turin and has so far failed to agree a new deal.

Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli are interested in bringing defender Emerson Palmieri back to Italy in January, according to Sky Italia.

The out-of-favour left-back has yet to make the matchday squad for any of the Blues' Premier League matches so far this season.

Inter were unable to meet Chelsea's £20million asking price for the Italy international over the summer, but the Blues could be willing to listen to loan-to-buy offers for the 26-year-old in January.

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has admitted he was open to interest from Arsenal over the summer.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the Blues' vice-captain as a back-up option to top targets Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey – who eventually arrived on deadline day.

Jorginho told ESPN Brazil: “I believe that every player is open to negotiations. So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here.”

The out-of-favour left-back has yet to make the matchday squad for any of the Blues' Premier League matches so far this season.

Chelsea were hoping to recoup around £20million for Emerson during the summer transfer er window, a fee that put off former manager Antonio Conte's Inter Milan bosses.

    SEVILLA CONSIDER KEPA

Sevilla are lining up a shock loan swoop for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Estadio Deportivo claims the Spaniards are targeting Chelsea's flop goalkeeper just days after the sides faced each other in the Champions League.

Kepa was on the bench for the 0-0 draw following Edouard Mendy's return from injury.

But he could be able to resurrect his career back home with the Europa League champions.

    LOFTY HEIGHTS

Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits he pushed to leave Chelsea on loan for Fulham.

He said: “We [me and Frank Lampard] had an honest conversation. I was the one who initiated it. I felt like it was paramount that I played a lot of football this season.

“With the strength in depth at Chelsea and how I was feeling, I was not sure being out for so long that when I had the opportunity that I could play fantastically and hold down a place in the starting XI.

“I was not 100 per cent I could do that, because I need to build my confidence back up.”

    (ALMOST) DONE LIKE A KEPA

Chelsea's struggles with goalkeepers threatened to continue after Edouard Mendy suffered a gaffe against Manchester United.

The Senegalese was snapped up from Rennes for £24million when the Blues lost patience with Kepa Arrizabalaga following a series of errors.

The 28-year-old has already proved a safe pair of hands after keeping a clean on his Premier League debut – a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Yet Mendy proved less than assured with his feet after almost netting a comical own-goal against United at Old Trafford.

The Blues No1 was given time and space to pick a pass after recieving the ball from Kurt Zouma.

But he then had his heart in his mouth after attempting to play it out to Thiago Silva and seeing his effort narrowly miss the back of his own net.

Chelsea flop Emerson is attracting interest from Italy, according to reports.

The outcast left-back looks set for a January departure with Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli said to be interested in bringing the Italian back to his homeland.

Frank Lampard is not a fan of the 26-year-old and worked hard to replace him over the summer.

And with Ben Chilwell arriving for £50million, the Italy international's Chelsea career looks to be over.

West Ham were rumoured to be keen on his signature last month.

But Serie A now looks the most likely destination, according to Sky Sports Italia.

His former club Roma, Napoli and Inter are said to be keen.

And some reports suggest even Juventus are considering a move.

    NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Ex-Everton player Tim Cahill has taken aim Chelsea duo Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech for breaking the 'non-negotiables' of Premier League football.

Speaking to Football Focus, Cahill said: “These are individual errors, it’s not the tactics. It’s a mentality, it’s individuals not focusing for 95 minutes.

“On top of that you see the goals they concede. You see Havertz, he’s trying to do a trick, trying to nutmeg someone and he loses it. Ings is on the front foot, they’re ready, waiting and pounces.

“They’re all little errors and mistakes from individuals. He brings on Ziyech and again dribbling, when to dribble, what areas to dribble, understanding where to do it.

“There’s non-negotiables and they are don’t try and nutmeg someone on the edge of your own area, the other non-negotiable is stop dribbling and taking on 10 players.”

Harry Maguire is in for a nightmare if he plays against super-fast Chelsea striker Timo Werner today – reckons former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson.

The Manchester United centre-half has been caught out before for pace – and was sent off for England against Denmark as he struggled to cope with a superior opponent in the running stakes.

Maguire, 27, is having his 'annus horribilis' having been arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer in Greece, before being let-off.

He has also had a mare on the pitch, with a series of disappointing displays for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United side.

Johnson told Optus Sport: “If I'm Timo Werner, I'd be like, “Please play Maguire!”, I really would.

“But on that last performance, if I'm Tuanzebe, I'd be thinking: “Why aren't I playing?”

    DEVIL'S DELIGHT

Edinson Cavani has dropped a major hint he will debut against Chelsea for Manchester United today.

The Uruguayan has yet to feature for Manchester United since his deadline day move having been forced to undergo a two-week quarantine period.

Cavani, 33, has been working on his fitness and is looking to seize his opportunity in the absence of Anthony Martial who is suspended.

Question marks also remain over Mason Greenwood who has missed the last two matches with a mystery 'niggle.'

If he does get the nod, the former Paris Saint-Germain man is likely to go up against old team-mate Thiago Silva.

And Cavani admitted he is relishing the chance to face the Brazilian at Old Trafford. He told EN24 news: “It will be great to be able to find him on the pitch.

“Thiago is very professional, because he works so hard in training and in the pre-match warm-ups. Well, it won't be easy!

“It will be complicated because he is a very good central defender and an excellent footballer. But it will still be a great experience.”
