Billy Joe Saunders mocks Demetrius Andrade after WBO middleweight champ is arrested for carrying a gun

Saunders was set to face Andrade in October, however, the Brit failed a disputed drugs test and subsequently vacated his WBO middleweight world title.

Andrade, who is signed to DAZN and promoter Eddie Hearn, would beat Walter Kautondokwa for the vacant title.

However, Andrade was arrested on Thursday after the police allegedly found a gun in the boxer's Mercedes apparently inside a Louis Vuitton bag along with a magazine containing ten rounds of ammunition.

Andrade, 30, is said to have the officers that he has the gun for protection because of his fame and wealth.

A check on the firearm is said to reveal that the unbeaten middleweight did not have a valid permit to carry the gun.

Providence Police detective Maj. David Lapatin said that Andrade had no excuse to be carrying the Glock 19 pistol without a permit.

Detective Maj. David Lapatin said: “There’s no excuse for carrying a gun without a permit.

“Whether you claim you’re transporting large amounts of money, or your life is in danger, you can make your case to get a permit but you cannot obtain a gun and carry it in the city of Providence without one.”

The police said that they approached Andrade’s Mercedes as he was blocking traffic at the time talking to a friend in a car next to his.

Police claim that Andrade was behaving nervously while continuous glancing at a backpack on the floor of his car.

Andrade was charged for one count of possession of a firearm without a license and released on bail.
