CHELSEA could recall teen midfielder Ethan Ampadu from his RB Leipzig loan after getting NO playing time this season, according to reports.
The Wales midfielder played an hour of the Dragons' 1-1 draw in Slovakia on Thursday night and impressed alongside Joe Allen.
And both Ryan Giggs and Frank Lampard are concerned over his lack of game time, according to the Express.
The former Exeter starlet, 19, is seen as one of Chelsea's most promising youth prospects and even Maurizio Sarri was happy to give him minutes last season, despite his infamous lack of rotation.
Julian Nagelsmann, 32, is Ampadu's boss at the Red Bull Arena, but has overlooked the deep-lying midfielder so far.
Ampadu's only game time this term has come in Wales' 2-1 win over Azerbaijan — where he played 74 minutes — and their Euro 2020 qualifying draw in Trnava last night.
Lampard has an embarrassment of riches in the centre of the park, with Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Ross Barkley, N'Golo Kante and youngster George McEachran all competing for the deep-lying midfield spots.
Giggs rates Ampadu as one of the most talented teenagers in Europe.
He said: "It is a concern because Ethan is at the age now where he has to play.
"The last few camps he's looked so much better in training.
"He is such a talent it's hard to ignore. But it's very difficult for him to play 90 minutes and back-to-back games because he's not had the minutes."
Lepizig are currently fifth in the Bundesliga and are third in their relatively open Champions League group, which contains Benfica, Lyon and Zenit St Petersburg.
Cosmopolitan Wales have another young star playing in Germany in Schalke's Rabbi Matondo, as well as Gareth Bale at Real Madrid and Aaron Ramsey at Juventus.
But all three have suffered from injuries, leaving them under-cooked for Giggs' matches in charge recently.
