Chelsea and Tottenham in transfer blow as Lautaro Martinez reveals he wants to stay at Inter Milan next season

LAUTARO MARTINEZ has delivered Chelsea and Tottenham a major transfer blow after announcing he will STAY at Inter Milan.

The Argentine striker, 24, has been linked with the London rivals this summer but says he is determined to stay at Inter next season.

Martinez had been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge were Blues flop Romelu Lukaku to make a shock return to Inter.

The forward scored 40 goals in 97 appearances under Spurs boss Antonio Conte during their time together in Italy.

Martinez scored the opening goal at Wembley on Wednesday as Argentina hammered Euro 2020 winners Italy 3-0 in the inaugural Finalissima.

Quizzed about his future afterwards – Martinez insisted he had not had any contact with any other club so far this summer and is intent on staying at the San Siro.

He said: “My plan is clear: I really want to stay at Inter next season.

"I’ve not received communications from the club as of today, I want to continue at Inter next season."

Spurs have already signed Martinez's Inter teammate, Ivan Perisic, after he left the Serie A club as a free agent.

The Italian market has proved a happy hunting ground for Spurs since Conte's arrival, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski shining since their arrival from Juventus in January.

Tottenham managing director of football Fabio Paratici also signed defender Cristian Romero last summer.

The Argentine, an international team-mate of Martinez, hit the ground running at Spurs.

Conte's Serie A stars helped the North Londoners pip rivals Arsenal to a top four position.
