Deulofeu brace keeps Hornets on track for Europe at doomed Terriers

GERARD DEULOFEU netted TWICE in another away-day special from the Spaniard.

The Watford forward has now scored SIX goals in his last five Premier League games away from Vicarage Road.

And it means the FA Cup finalists are in a great position for seventh place and a place in Europe regardless of whether they beat Manchester City at Wembley.

They were ahead in the fifth minute at the John Smith’s Stadium after Jonathan Hogg lost the ball in a dangerous area to Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Will Hughes fed the ball back to Doucoure, who galloped into the penalty area to panic the home defence.

But Del Boy remained calm when the ball broke to him, composing himself and setting his sights before using Terence Kongolo as a marker to bend his effort home delightfully.

It was similar to his semi-final goal at Wembley in the win against Wolves – and Javi Gracia’s men were showing they were not saving themselves for the cup final next month.

The clincher came 10 minutes from full-time when Doucoure’s shot was parried by Jonas Lossl and Deulofeu tucked away the rebound.

Karlan Grant headed home in stoppage-time to draw Huddersfield level with Derby, whose 20 goals is the worst in a top-flight season.
