Fallon Sherrock begins her Worlds Darts Championship campaign tonight when she takes on Ricky Evans in the first round.
Sherrock, who memorably reached the third round three years ago, is the last remaining female player in the tournament after rising star Beau Greaves and veteran Lisa Ashton both fell at the first hurdle. It certainly hasn’t been a kind draw for Sherrock, who was controversially awarded a place less than a month before the start of the tournament, despite finishing behind Aston and Greaves in the Women’s Series.
In Evans, nicknamed Rapid, she faces arguably the fastest player in darts, although the pair have met on several occasions in the past, so Sherrock will know what is in store. The 28-year-old will be hoping she delivers a better performance than she and her teammates served up during an appearance on hit quiz show The Chase last year.

She was joined by ITV darts broadcaster Jacqui Oatley, radio DJ Dev Griffin and comedian Johnny Vegas, who attempted to beat the chasers and win thousands for their chosen charities.
Unfortunately, they failed to impress viewers with their performance. Although all four managed to get through the first round, they struggled second time around. They could answer only 14 questions correctly between them, meaning chaser Mark Labbett, known as ‘The Beast’, didn’t have to work too hard to catch them up.
Many viewers took to Twitter to comment on the performance, with one writing: “Well that was a pitiful performance by the celebrities. #TheChase.”

Another added: “Cringed for the full 2 minutes #TheChase.” A third commented: “Have they ever put four thicker celebrities together? Embarrassing #thechase.”
A fourth viewer said: “What’s the point of these “celebrity” editions of The Chase? They are not good. #TheChase.” “14 between 4 of ‘em? The Beast is going to annihilate them in under 60s #thechase,” someone else shared.
Examples of some of the questions answered incorrectly in the episode included: “The disease rickets is caused by lack of what vitamin?”
After the celebs had had their round of questions, presenter Bradley Walsh said: “We need a lot of pushbacks. I’d say we’re at least five light. At least.”
It didn’t take long for Labbett to defeat the celebrities, answering all of his questions correctly before the 60 seconds was up.
