Giants trade back in NFL Draft after Eagles stunner
The Giants added a playmaker in Florida’s Kadarius Toney with the 20th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but at least some fans didn’t seem too thrilled.
When NFL commissioner Roger Goodell called Toney’s name, the camera panned to Giants fans in attendance at the draft in Cleveland and they appeared confused over the team’s selection. A few fans were caught on-camera shrugging their shoulders and placing their hands on their heads in disbelief.
One fan tweeted, “I’m disappointed we traded down in the draft only to end up with Kadarius Toney smh.”
Toney recorded 70 receptions for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns last season for the Gators.
While some Giants fans didn’t favor the former Florida receiver — who could turn out to be a weapon for quarterback Daniel Jones — one Giants player did.
WR Darius Slayton tweeted, “Lawd have mercy we got ballers everywhere let’s goooo #giantspride,” after the 20th pick was called. The Giants traded down to 20 with the Bears for the No. 11 overall pick.
The new Giant will soon get a chance to prove to fans he’s a promising asset to the team, which finished 6-10 last season.
