I gave Anthony Gordon a lift to his hotel after he signed for Newcastle – it was surreal and so random | The Sun

A DIEHARD Newcastle fan gave Anthony Gordon a LIFT back to his hotel after he signed for Toon.

The winger put pen to paper on January 29 to wrap up a £45million transfer from Everton.

The deal was so rushed Gordon did not even have time to take his clothes with him to the North East.

So after agreeing a deal he went shopping with partner Annie at the Metrocentre in Gateshead.

And in a strange twist of fate he ended up getting a lift back to his hotel from Newcastle fans Vanessa and Simon and their 19-year-old son Lewis after struggling to get a taxi.

Recalling the incident, Gordon told Chronicle Live: "It was my first night and I didn't have much with me in terms of clothing and just little bits so we went into the Metrocentre, obviously got stopped for a lot of photographs.

"But at the end of it I was stood outside waiting for a taxi, I couldn't get a taxi.

"This woman came up to me and was like 'Welcome to Newcastle, how are you finding it?'. We were like 'good, I can't really get home'. So she was like 'Jump in the car!' so I was like 'Alright'.

"I got in her car and then her son came from work and got in the car.

"He sat in the front seat, he turned around and I was there. He had the shock of his life!"

Gordon has made four appearances for the Magpies but is still yet to taste his first win in black and white after missing Sunday's 2-1 victory over Wolves.

He recently hit out at Everton after they failed to thank him for his services after he left the club.

Gordon told Sky Sports: "Yeah it did, it hurt me a little bit, I'm not going to lie to you.

"Just because I thought, you know, I'm a 22-year-old lad, I'm not going to handle every situation in life perfectly.

"But as a club with thousands of people working for them.. I think the effort I gave them last year, I was a massive part in keeping the club up.

"I won players' players of the year, and manager's player of the year, so for them to not really show me any credit or thank me for it, it hurt me a little bit yeah."
