I'm a World Cup winner and Juventus' best ever player – I repeatedly snubbed Sir Alex Ferguson's Man Utd transfer bids | The Sun

SIR ALEX FERGUSON tried to sign Juventus' best ever player on two occasions.

The former United boss was apparently insistent on signing the star, who won the World Cup in an illustrious career.

He also won the Champions League and Serie A on six occasions, but the accolades do not stop there.

A 23-year career also saw the attacker retire as Juventus' record appearance holder, with 705, and record goalscorer with 290.

Alessandro Del Piero, 48, is considered by many to be Juventus' greatest ever player.

He dedicated his prime years to the Turin club and turned down interest from Fergie, even when he came knocking a second time.
