JOE ROOT has been advised to sort out the chain of command with Alastair Cook to avoid any aggro with the retired Test captain.
Former England skipper David Gower says the pair must talk so they understand how to work together and maintain a good relationship.
Gower admits he had some problems returning to the ranks when his two spells as captain ended.
