From one legendary commentator to another. Former ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley has expressed his sadness at Motson’s death, revealing that as a teenager he just wanted to be like the BBC legend.

John Motson’s final game for Match of the Day was between Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion before he retired from the BBC in 2018.

The Baggies, who presented ‘Motty’ with a commemorative shirt at the time, have paid tribute to Motson – who they described as ‘a true master of his craft’.
