Man Utd next manager: Antonio Conte HUGE odds slash, Mauricio Pochettino trails Erik ten Hag for Red Devils job

ERIK TEN HAG is still favourite for the Manchester United job but he's now got serious competition from Spurs boss Antonio Conte.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've altered odds after a frenzy of activity in their 'Next Manager' market over the weekend.

Dutchman Ten Hag was previously available at 13/2 to be in charge at the beginning of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

However, he's now the outright market leader at 15/8 having received significant support.

Known for his attacking philosophy, the 51-year-old has clinched two Eredivisie titles with Ajax and made it to the Champions League semi-finals in 2018-19.

And SunSport understand that United chief Richard Arnold is backing Rangnick’s pursuit of Erik ten Hag as the next permanent boss.

However, many players want former Spurs chief Pochettino to take charge.

Ten Hag's Ajax are now five points clear of PSV and boast an outrageous record having scored 70 goals and conceded just FIVE all season.

Pochettino is second-favourite at 2/1 with Betfair.

The Argentine was previously favourite but recently signed a one-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2023.

However, things are in the balance for Pochettino in Paris.

Publication Le Parisien recently claimed that Poch's future hinges on whether or not they are able to progress past 13-time winners Real Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League.

Rangnick is offered at 6/1 to extend his stay.

The German has pieced together two successive victories over Brighton and Leeds, and has United firmly in contention for a top-four finish.

Antonio Conte — who was tipped to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November — is now priced at 6/1 having been a double-figure 16/1 last week.

The fiery Italian has cut an increasingly frustrated figure in North London.

He made it clear that was not satisfied with the club's dealings in January when telling Italian media that his squad was ultimately "weakened" after the departures of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Dele Alli and Bryan Gil.

Conte also said that Tottenham have a 1 percent chance of finishing inside the Premier League’s top four before, but that was before beating leaders Manchester City in a 3-2 thriller over the weekend.

Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has added fuel to the fire after announcing on Twitter that he could see Conte switching North London for Manchester if Cristiano Ronaldo moves on this summer.

He said: "If Ronaldo leaves Utd this summer don’t rule out Conte taking the job. Ronaldo is the reason he’s not there now. I sense everyone is positioning right now."
