Michael’s Schumacher’s son Mick wins first-ever Formula Two race in Hungary as he continues dad’s legacy – The Sun

MICK SCHUMACHER, the son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael, won his first Formula Two race in Hungary.

The 20-year-old started from pole and converted it into his maiden victory in the series.

Schumacher, who is part of the Ferrari academy, said: "It is very special.

"My mother, my whole family is actually here; Mum, my sister and her boyfriend and my grandma as well.

"I'm very happy that they are here and I've got support."

Schumacher is currently 11th in the championship and admits he could do with a second season in F2 rather than progress up to F1.

He added: "Only time can tell. Having the first victory in F2 is a great thing.

"I need to work a lot on myself. Whether I go to F1 next year or in two years or maybe three, I don't know.

"I will do my best possible, try to learn as much as possible so that when I do the step I will be ready and able to feel comfortable."

Earlier this year, Mick emulated dad Michael as he sat in the iconic red of Ferrari ahead of his first F1 test drive in Bahrain – and wasted no time in impressing.

The young driver stepped into the famous cockpit just over 12 years after his father last exited one and finished second-fastest in the Middle East.

Ferrari are now hoping the 20-year-old can recreate the magic his dad brought to the sport, winning the Italians five World Championships

And his F2 win in Hungary will go a long way to putting him in good stead…
