QPR next manager odds: Michael Beale the new favourite for Rs hot seat ahead of Stuart Pearce and Sol Campbell

MICHAEL BEALE has been priced as the new favourite to take the reins at Loftus Road.

Sky Bet make the current Aston Villa assistant manager the 1/1 favourite, ahead of the likes of Stuart Pearce and Sol Campbell.

QPR had a strong start to the season that's just finished, and were in the play-off positions as recently as mid-March, before a run of seven defeats in nine games towards the end of the season meant they ended up in 11th.

Beale, currently Steven Gerrard's assistant at Villa Park is the new favourite to be named as Mark Warburton's successor as manager.

He was also in the same role under Gerrard at Rangers during the former Liverpool player's three years at Ibrox.

The QPR role would be Beale's first as the head coach of a senior team, having previously only worked as an assistant coach and as the head of various under age groups while at Liverpool and Chelsea.

Sky Bet odds

  • Michael Beale 1/1
  • Gareth Ainsworth 4/1
  • Karl Robinson 6/1
  • Liam Manning 6/1
  • Jon Dahl Tomasson 8/1
  • Stuart Pearce 10/1
  • Sol Campbell 12/1
  • Michael Appleton 14/1
  • Gary Rowett 16/1
  • Shaun Derry 16/1

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth has the next shortest odds at 4/1, and previously spent the best part of seven years as a player at Loftus Road, and went on to become assistant manager with the West London side.

He became Wycombe boss in 2012, making him the second longest serving manager in the top four divisions of English football.

The 49-year-old is perhaps best known managerially for getting Wycombe promoted to the Championship in 2019-20 when they had odds of 7/2 to be relegated to League Two at the start of the season.

The Chairboys almost defeated the odds again by staying up the following season, but were relegated by just one point back down to League One.

Wycombe again reached the play-off final this season, but couldn't get past Sunderland, as they lost 2-0 at Wembley.

Stuart Pearce has also been linked with the Loftus Road job, the former Manchester City and Nottingham Forest boss is on the lookout for a new job having recently left his role as West Ham's assistant manager.

Sky Bet are offering odds of 10/1 for him to be named QPR's new head coach.

Sol Campbell is another big name linked with the managerial position at Loftus Road.

The former England international has been without a managerial job since leaving his job with Southend in 2020 after being relegated from League One, and is touted at 12/1 to replace Warburton.
