Newcastle United supporters appear to have taken over London’s Trafalgar Square ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final showdown with Manchester United.
The Premier League duo will descend on Wembley with the season’s first piece of silverware up for grabs in the Carabao Cup final, but Newcastle fans are already making their presence known.
Thousands of Geordie enthusiasts made the three-hour train journey from the north-east to England’s capital ahead of the final and have been showing their colours all around London.
Premier League referee and self-confessed Newcastle fan Michael Oliver has been spotted soaking up the party atmosphere and posing for pictures amongst celebratory supporters.
Oliver is allowed to support a Premier League team but isn’t permitted to officiate a match involving one of the side’s he has declared his support for.

The pre-match celebrations mark a rare day out for Newcastle supporters who have been starved off trophy success, with their last domestic title coming 68 years ago – the FA Cup in 1955.
Social media has been packed with viral support showcasing the tremendous support of travelling away fans hoping to see Newcastle’s new era get underway with a first cup for manager Eddie Howe.
One video showed thousands of Newcastle supporters dressed in the team’s traditional black and white colours, green away kit, and other team shirts through the ages partying in Trafalgar Square.
A sea of support as far as the eye could see welcomed tourists who had given the famous London landmark a Geordie-styled makeover chanted Newcastle songs and soaked in the rare February sunshine.
Trafalgar Square has been the hosting spot of numerous protests, sporting celebrations, and other movements over the years.

Supporters were seen chanting team songs, soaking up the sunshine and setting off smoke flares
Supporters have clearly invested in backing their team at the home of English football on Sunday with some images from Trafalgar Square showing personal flags being draped around lampposts and statues.
Others opted to set off pyrotechnic smoke flares amongst crowd members taking in the football-supporter surroundings.
Magpies fans appeared in good spirits and were well-behaved in various video snippet and posted images with those in attendance appearing to stop people going over-the-top.
Manchester United supporters will be hoping to spoil Newcastle’s League Cup ambitions as Erik ten Hag seeks to end the Red Devils’ trophy drought.
