AMERICAN Olympic star Caeleb Dressel has been draped in gold this week – but the swimmer insists he DOES NOT keep his medals.
The 24-year-old won two golds this week at the Tokyo 2020 Games to take his collection to four in total after his double joy at Rio 2016.
But the Team USA ace, who has been dubbed the ‘next Michael Phelps’ by many, is adamant that medals are not important to him.
Dressel claims he does not need ‘a piece of metal’ and that it is only world records he is interested in.
He told NBC: “It's not about that for me. I don't keep any of that stuff.
“You guys should be jealous — I get to do the fun part, which is racing.
“I get to enjoy the race.
“I don't need a piece of metal to remind me of that. I got to enjoy it.”
Dressel could leave the Far East and return to the States with four more golds to his name from the remaining four races he has left to swim.
He has now outlined what he feels has been the key to his success.
The ace added: “I think greatness is found within mundanity.

“Those boring little ticks throughout the day — I call it putting pennies in the bank, my coach calls it putting tools in the toolbox — I think that's where greatness is found.
“People wanna dream up this big, giant goal without putting stepping stones along the way.
“I think, for me, that's what gets you to that giant goal.”
