CRISTIANO RONALDO left fans and team-mates baffled after SNIFFING Renato Sanches' hair.
The Juventus forward, 34, took a bizarre approach to bonding with his Portugal team-mate during training.
Sanches has donned dreadlocks for as long as we can remember and certainly since breaking into the senior national team three years ago yet his captain appeared to want to get a closer look… or a closer smell.
And so when Ronaldo finished his drill behind Sanches, he decided to grab the locks and give them a whiff, as you do.
One can only imagine he was simply checking which shampoo his team-mates uses. Surely.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter was quick to lay into Ronaldo for his clearly strange behaviour.
One user wrote: "Wtf was Ronaldo thinking?"
Another said: "It's that good shampoo! Lol."
A third quipped: "Nothin weird about that!"
Although some reckon there is an ongoing joke between the pair that the dreadlocks smell funny. But who nose for sure?
Undeterred by the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's antics, midfielder Sanches – who joined Lille this summer – simply carried on with training as if nothing had happened as Ronaldo enjoyed a giggle to himself.
Sanches, 22, will be hoping there is no more smelly business when the pair line up together for Portugal this week.
The European and Nations League champions face away trips to Serbia and Lithuania in Euro 2020 qualifying.
Fernando Santos' side are currently fourth out of five in Group B with two draws from two so far.
They are therefore a whopping eight points behind group-leaders Ukraine but have played two games fewer due to their Nations League exploits in the summer.
Ronaldo is clearly looking forward to representing his beloved country again and took to Instagram to share his excitement.
He wrote: "It is always a pleasure to return to the national team and represent Portugal!"
É sempre um prazer voltar à seleção e representar Portugal!????
