Watch Dubois trade huge blows in wild power-punching exchange with Lartey on way to victory

YOUNG Brit Daniel Dubois showed his ferocious boxing style in the victory over Richard Lartey on Saturday night.

Nicknamed 'DDD', the London born fighter took on Ghanaian boxer Richard Lartey for the vacant WBO heavyweight title.

While the Wembley Arena crowd only witnessed four rounds before Dubois won by knockout, the action was intense.

In particular, an exchange in the third round showed the attacking nature of the bout as punches were thrown left, right and centre.

The third saw Dubois in a spot of bother as his barrage allowed Lartey to land a painful right hander.

However the 21-year-old came back after the bell to deliver a number of timely blows, forcing the fight to be stopped by referee Bob Williams.

It sent a clear message to 2016 Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce, who is widely tipped to be Dubois' next opponent.

The Londoners are both unbeaten with Joyce holding the WBA (Gold) heavyweight title thanks to his technical knockout of Bermane Stiverne in February.

The bruising nature of Saturday's fight was recognised by Dubois.

He told BT Sport: "It was a fire fight, and I was still basically trying to hit him with shots.

"I let my mind go then I thought, 'You know what, I need to pick the right shots'.

"I hit him with a good shot and caught him on the point where I wanted to all night, so it was a lesson learnt."
