The One Show’s Alex Jones was joined by guest presenter Michael Ball this evening for the first BBC One programme of the week. The pair discussed a wide range of topics during the episode but the most poignant came when Alex paid tribute to a member of the show’s team, Charlie Mott. Charlie died over the weekend and The One Show host fought back tears as she delivered a heartfelt tribute to her coworker.
“Now before we go, we just wanted to pay tribute to one of our colleagues, Charlie Mott,” Alex began.
She added: “Who sadly died at the weekend.
“Everybody in the team is absolutely devastated, he was hugely talented and such good company.
“We miss him so much. Our thoughts are with his family and we are sending lots of love from all of us here. Good night.”
Charlie worked alongside Alex on The One Show behind the scenes as a researcher, according to his Twitter page.
It didn’t take long for BBC viewers to weigh in with their messages of support, both to Charlie’s family and the rest of The One Show team.
“Thoughts and prayers are with the family of Charlie mott, your colleague RIP CHARLIE,” tweeted one viewer.
A second took to Twitter to say: “How very sad ~ RIP Charlie.”
