Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman's new movie has HUGE blunder on the poster – can you spot it?

THE new viking film starring Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman has faced backlash before even hitting cinemas.

Movie-goers have been hyped to catch The Northman which stars the two A-listers alongside Peaky Blinders' Anna Taylor-Joy and Ethan Hawke.

But a new poster for the film has left many film buffs scratching their heads.

The poster is definitely eye-catching with a ripped Skarsgård serving his best angry Viking look complete with long hair and ripped abs.

Kidman is also unrecognisable as the Nordic warrior complete with long braids, fur shawl and metal jewellery

Behind them stand the other two stars while iconic Viking ships sailing the high seas serves as the backdrop.

The poster has the other usual bells and whistles including the actors' names at the top of the poster, and even director Robert Eggers' name featuring three times, also as producer and writer.

It of course, has the cinema release date and a punchy tagline – "conquer your fate", but there is one glaring omission.

The poster is missing the movie title altogether.

Commuters in New York City noticed the gaffe and took to Twitter to point it out.

Film bosses made sure to get the promotional posters ripped down within hours of the blunder going viral.

News outlet Vulture took to New York's subways to ask punters what they thought the film might be about based on the poster with no title.

"Vikings who are going through a really rough time," one commuter hilariously replied.

Another came up with: “Flintstones 2: Bad Day in Bedrock."

While other people on Twitter cynically pointed out if could have been a deliberate ploy to get people talking about the film.

"What if the marketing team deliberately left the title off of that subway poster for #TheNorthman so you film dorks would share that picture incessantly, thereby promoting the film, which releases in theaters April 22?" mused one movie buff.

And another wrote: "Everyone talking about the fail of there being no title on #TheNorthman poster. But everyone is now talking about it though aren't they."

The Northman stars Skarsgård as a Viking warrior in 10th century Iceland set on a trail of bloddy vengeance after his father, Hawke's King Horvendill, is beheaded.
