Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton recently fronted the hit Channel 5 programme Summer on a Farm with Escape to the Country’s Jules Hudson. The duo, who hosted the live programme from Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorks, welcomed a number of faces to the show including The Yorkshire Vet stars Julian Norton and Peter Wright, as well as Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen.
Amanda has worked alongside Helen in the past, offering her words of wisdom to the mum of two.
However, in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Helen has opened up about their friendship.
She spoke about the challenges Amanda is faced with as she runs Ravenseat Farm, while bringing up nine children.
Speaking about Amanda’s children, Helen began: “The kids are really nice and normal and well-positioned members of society.”
She continued: “It’s not like you’ve got nine feral kids running around.
“She has got lovely kids and a lovely family and a successful business. So yeah, I’m not sure how she does it but, I think that’s what people are fascinated by.”
Amanda runs Ravenseat Farm with her husband Clive Owen and their nine children.
Their Channel 5 reality series, Our Yorkshire Farm, follows the couple as they go about the day-to-day running of the farm.
However, it hasn’t been all plain sailing for the husband and wife have struggled along the way.
During the programme, the 46-year-old often openly talks about the challenges of farming.
Helen, who also grew up on a farm, went on to add she is always asking Amanda for “advice and tips”.
She said: “She is a woman that I can learn a lot from so whenever I see her, I’m always asking her for advice and tips and stuff like that.”

“But yeah, I think that’s just the mum ways,” she added. “You kind of want to know how everyone else does it.”
When the duo meets up, the TV presenter said they mainly talk about parenting and their children.
She said: “We just talk about our kids and what are the kids doing and who’s at what stage and all of that sort of stuff.
“We were (recently) talking about Ruben as he just started socialising and going out.”
“Ironically it is where I used to go out and socialise as a teenager. And I’m like ‘you wanna try here and you wanna try there’,” she recalled.
Channel 5 has seen the success of many farming-themed shows including the likes of The Yorkshire Vet and Our Yorkshire Farm.
Helen believes the secret to their success is that is “celebrates the hard work of farmers”.
The host explained: “People are very into sustainability. People know what’s going on in the world, they know what we have to do.
“I think people definitely catching on to the idea that we reap what we sew, and ultimately that’s what farming is.”
Our Yorkshire Farm is available to watch on Channel 5.
