Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway got off to a cracking start this weekend, but one technical glitch had certain viewers complaining.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were unable to welcome the usual live audience to the studio.

Instead, hundreds of British families tuned in from their homes, appearing via webcam on an enormous digital screen.

Ant and Dec raced over to chat with the virtual audience, trying their best to integrate the traditional SNT banter with the crowd.

Unfortunately, the audience created crackling feedback on the show, and the noise drove some viewers to complain to ITV.

Taking to their keyboards, SNT fans fumed the feedback was spoiling the series launch, as they pleaded with the show's technicians to fix the blunder.

One said: "@ITV please can we get rid of the interfering webcam noise on #SaturdayNightTakeaway we were looking forward to the show but it's a horrible noise! Thanks!"

"do something about feedback," begged a second.

And a third chimed: "Please mute the audience, hurting my large ears."

"That sound is unbearable," griped a fourth.

Sound issues aside, the first episode of the series was a hit with viewers, as Ant and Dec were joined by a gaggle of celeb guests on the show.
