Ant McPartlin’s cheeky joke at Simon Cowell’s expense on Britain’s Got Talent

Ant McPartlin cracked a studio gag after Britain’s Got Talent costar Simon Cowell was caught with his flies undone.

The Geordie favourite, back at work after rehab, laughed: “It’s just nice to see someone else in the paper for a change.”

Ant had been off-screen since spring following his drink drive arrest- alongside pal Dec Donnelly for the Britain’s Got Talent auditions.

Simon, 59, had been left red faced after being was snapped with his fly down.

He laughed off the incident at auditions at the London Palladium yesterday, before Ant said: “It’s just nice to see someone else in the paper for a change!”

To which Simon replied: “That’s what friends are for!”

Ant and Dec were joined by Cowell, David Walliams , Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden as the ITV talent show search got underway for another year.

They were stunned by a When Harry Met Sally moment as an Irish harpist pretended to orgasm on stage.

The musician called Ursula came on with a harp which everyone assumed would be a boring recital.

It turned out to be a version of Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars. When she got to the lyrics ‘if I lay here…’ she laid down and put the harp between her legs and sang the rest of the song as if she was in the throes of passion.

Afterwards Simon said: “I wasn’t expecting that!”

And David laughed: “Would your harp like a wet wipe?”
