Antiques Roadshow guest refuses to sell 50p teapot despite staggering valuation | The Sun

ANTIQUES Roadshow guest refused to sell her 50p tiny teapot made of jade despite whopping evaluation.

Expert Alexandra Aguilar was left shocked as she was put in her place by one guest who refused to sell a tiny teapot ornament she bought at a car boot sale.

Last night's episode of Antiques Roadshow saw Fiona Bruce take viewers to Powis Castle, one of the grandest houses in Wales.

Guests brought their treasured belongings in the hopes they would fetch a pretty penny at auction.

A tiny Jade teapot shaped ornament caught the eye of Alexandra, and she offered to buy it from the guest.

Alexandra asked: "What do you know about it? And Where did you get it from?"

The guest revealed she found it at a car boot sale and bought it for 50p, leaving Alexandra was open-mouthed.

Alexandra added: "The way of checking if something is Jade, you find an area and with a little pin, try and scratch it. I can't scratch it, it's very hard, it's Jade.

"It's typical of India, it dates from the 19th century…it's beautiful, it's very gorgeous. Can I give you 50p for it?"

But the guest was not impressed and said: "No."

The expert said: "You would probably get a bit more than 50p. I guess you would probably get around £1,500."

And the guest replied: "Wow."

Later, the guest said: "It's a reward for all the early mornings and all the hard work of going out and about searching for all these interesting objects. Not bad for 50p."

Antiques Roadshow airs on Sundays at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
