'Below Deck Med' Scores Huge with Highest Ratings to Date

The Below Deck franchise seems to be taking over the Bravo network as Bravo’s communications team reports the highest-rated episode for Below Deck Mediterranean to date.

Bravo PR tweeted, “The Naughty Yachties of #BelowDeckMed are reaching new highs as they’ve sailed their way to the most-watched episode of the series-to-date among total viewers, delivering 1.3M P18-49 (up +3% versus the prior week’s episode), 1.5M P25-54 (up +2%), and 2.7M total viewers (up +6%).”

Indeed the franchise is becoming a force, not only for Bravo but overall cable fanfare. Vulture reports that Below Deck season six was the most-watched, averaging 2.6 million viewers per episode among audiences under 50. Last season was the fifth most-watched show on cable too.

Headed for the Emmy Awards

Cast members proudly posted about the potential for season six of Below Deck to win an Emmy. “Considered for an Emmy in two categories,” Captain Lee Rosbach tweeted. “Wow, how great is this. @ Polynésie Française Tahiti Papeete.”

Other cast members added the season reel for the academy’s consideration to their Instagram accounts. If the season wins the coveted award, Below Deck will join winners like Top Chef and Project Runway from the network.

Needless the say, the season was action-packed. From a near-death experience to naughty charter guests, each episode had viewers at the edge of their seats. Plus, this cast was extremely active on Twitter, often stirring up more drama online while the season played out.

‘Below Deck Med’ may be on track for recognition too

At the rate Below Deck Mediterranean is going, the series may too be recognized at some point too. The season started with a bang thanks to a chef who couldn’t seem to get it right in the kitchen. Chef Mila Kolomeitseva’s go-to meals came straight from a box. Plus she offered her negative views on homosexuality, which angered the crew.

After two charters that included Old El Paso tacos and slimy fish from a can, Kolomeitseva was fired. Meanwhile, the audience became extremely suspicious that Bravo planted Kolomeitseva to drum up ratings even though production and the cast insisted that was simply not the case.

Although the chef drama has died down, more drama seems to be on the horizon. A mysterious new third stew has joined the cast. Below Deck chief stew Kate Chastain stirred the pot by tweeting new stew, June Foster reminded her of a certain someone. “I know this is a bold statement but June is giving me rocky vibes. Aka ‘I’m just here for every reason except the job I signed up for but it’s cool because I’m special’ vibes.”

The drama may be shifting to the interior?

Drama may certainly be on the way too. Below Deck Med chief stew Hannah Ferrier formed a tight bond with her staff right away. But third stew Anastasia Surmava moved into the chef position when Kolomeitseva was fired. Foster took the new third stew position, but Ferrier has yet to comment publicly about the new addition.

In fact, Ferrier seems to miss her tight trio. “How awesome are my girls this season?! If you haven’t already give @aeshascott and nastiasurmava a follow! I am missing them so much today,” she recently tweeted. “But very grateful to have made two life long friends.”

Plus significant mystery surrounds Foster. She is seen vomiting during dinner after being asked about her boyfriend. Plus, she posted a hospital picture to her Instagram story without any explanation. Below Deck Med certainly knows how to build a plotline and keep fans coming back for more.
