Ben desperately researches ways to save Lola's life in EastEnders death story

EastEnders recently confirmed a tragic exit storyline for Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) which sees her diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Struggling with the diagnosis himself, Ben (Max Bowden) is encouraged by Callum (Tony Clay) to tell Lexi (Isabella Brown) the truth about her mum’s illness.

However, Ben is more concerned with researching Lola’s condition in an attempt to find different treatment options for her to try.

Viewers will know that this storyline will ultimately end in Lola’s death. EastEnders have been working closely alongside Brain Tumour Research and Macmillan Cancer Support in order to tell the story sympathetically and realistically.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk at the Inside Soap Awards, Danielle Harold said that this storyline will affect ‘the whole family’.

‘That’s what’s really lovely about this story,’ she added, ‘it’s not just me, it’s the whole family who go through it.

It’s really nice to see how everyone reacts and how everyone supports Lola.’

Will Ben be able to come to terms with Lola’s prognosis?
