Call the Midwife cast: Who's in the season 10 line-up?

CALL THE MIDWIFE is back for a tenth season as fans see the return of their favourites nuns and nurses.

The release of the new series was delayed due to the pandemic, but it is set to feature the same characters we all know and love…

Who's in the Call the Midwife season 10 cast?

Fans will be transported back to the 1960s once again with the help of the popular cast.

Among those returning are Helen George and EastEnders legend Cliff Parisi as the new season continues the show's journey through the years at Nonnatus House in the East End of London.

Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne

Jenny became a child actress when she was 12 years old after starring in East of Sudan.

Since then, she has had an varied career, having starred in movies including Logan's Run, An American Werewolf in London and more recently, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Her TV credits include The Snow Goose and Spooks.

Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan

Judy Parfitt is a BAFTA-winning actress who has had big screen credits in Dolores Claiborne and Girl with a Pearl Earring.

She also acted opposite David Suchet in the 2004 remake of Death on the Nile and in  Little Dorrit,

Parfitt has appeared in Tom Wrigglesworth's Hang-Ups; and Jessica Hynes's suffragette sitcom Up the Women.

Linda Bassett as Nurse Cane

Linda Bassett made her screen acting debut in 1987 when she played the character Gertrude Stein in American Playhouse.

Her other credits range from Sense & Sensibility and Twirlywoos, to Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots and The Hours.

On the big screen, she has played Janet Swanton in Paris by Night.

Fenella Woolgar as Sister Hilda

Fenella Woolgar is an actress of stage and screen.

She has starred in movies including the 2007 remake of St. Trinian's and 2019 biopic Judy.

Woolgar has also starred in the TV miniseries Jekyll and played Agatha Christie in the Doctor Who episode The Unicorn and the Wasp. 

Stephen McGann as Dr. Turner

Stephen McGann is an English actor who began his acting career in 1982, starring in the West End musical Yakety Yak.

Stephen shot to national fame when he starred in Emmerdale from 1999 until 2002 playing Sean Reynolds.

He has also had roles in Casualty and The Bill.

Cliff Parisi as Fred Buckle 

Cliff Parisi is most famous for playing Minty Peterson in EastEnders.

He was a guest star in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, playing the character of Walt.

Parisi also guest starred as Arnie in the BBC drama Hustle.

Ella Bruccoleri as Sister Frances

Ella Bruccoleri landed the role of Sister Frances back in 2018.

She has also appeared in TV series The Last Kingdom.

Playing the nun is Ella’s first major TV role after drama school.

Helen George as Trixie

Helen is a musical theatre performer and got her first role in the hit play The Woman in White.

On screen, she starred in 2018 film Nativity Rocks!

She is also a keen singer, and was a backing singer on Elton John's tour. She also starred in the music video for Birdy's cover of 1901.

Laura Main as Shelagh Turner

Laura Main is a Scottish actress, who has starred in Murder City.

As well as other TV roles, including in medical dramas Holby City and Doctors, Laura has appeared on stage.

Plays she’s been in include Alice in Wonderland, Romeo and Juliet, Robin Hood, The Sound of Music and Company.

Leonie Elliott as Lucille

Leonie Elliott is an English actress well known for playing Fiona in the episode Hated in the Nation, on cult TV show Black Mirror.

One of her biggest parts was playing Cherry Patterson in the Lenny Henry comedy drama Danny and the Human Zoo in 2015.

She has also appeared in the likes of Casualty, The Bill and Holby City.

When is Call The Midwife Series 10 on TV?

Call the Midwife series 10 begins TONIGHT – Sunday April 18, 2021.

The show will start at 8pm on BBC One and will continue with new episodes each Sunday.
