The wheels are well and truly coming off, with members of the Conservative party tonight set to vote on whether to keep Theresa May as the party’s leader.
The politicians will cast their votes between 6pm and 8pm, with the results due in at around 9pm – but soap fans are worried that it could spell trouble for their planned night of TV viewing.
Indeed, it’s a big one over in Emmerdale tonight, with viewers waiting to find out if Daz Spencer (Mark Jordan) will manage to escape from the village.
His plans to high-tail it out of the UK hit a major stumbling block when he found Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) collapsed in the road, leaving him with no choice but to stay and save her life.
Meanwhile, on Corrie it’s D-Day for Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) as she learns whether her cancer has spread following her decision to ditch the chemo.
The double bill at 7.30pm and 8.30pm will also see Liz McDonald and Eileen Grimshaw’s feud reach new levels.
As for The Apprentice, with the final set for this weekend, there’s no time to waste as the hopefuls prepare for the ‘Interview’ stage.
But fans are concerned that its 10pm slot on BBC1 could be in peril.
"Has apprentice been pulled off tonight??? Heard it has? Wen will the interviews b shown??" one fan fretted on Twitter.
“Will the vote tonight interfere with Coronation Street and Emmerdale tonight? I just want to live in the real world. And is Mrs May not concerned about Sally?” another wise-cracked.
And a third worried, “Due to Theresa May NO Confidence , it looks as though now that #Corrie, and #Emmerdale could be cancelled tonight due to every news station BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 wanting to go LIVE for the #TheresaMay #NOConfidence VOTE.”
Lord Sugar sent a tweet out at 4.30pm saying it was not clear yet if The Apprentice would be aired.
He wrote: "Apprentice due to the vote of no confidence there is a possibility tonights episode 11 will be delayed or resheduled."
BBC have cleared the schedule until 9pm when the result of the vote is announced.
However, ITV has confirmed that Corrie and Emmerdale will be aired as planned. Mirror Online has contacted BBC1 for comment.
