Coronation Street’s Connie Hyde quits soap as Gina caught in factory collapse

Coronation Street’s Connie Hyde is quitting the ITV soap.

According to The Sun , Underworld machinist Gina Seddon’s time on the show is coming to an end as the fallout of the horror factory collapse pans out on screens.

Viewers will reportedly see Gina sent to hospital after the factory roof crushes her, amid fears for her life.

However, she is expected to survive her injuries, and instead walk away from the cobbles.

A TV insider told the publication: "Connie is still very much part of the Corrie family but Gina’s time on the street has come to a natural end – for now."

"The character could return, but it won’t be as a permanent fixture and Gina won’t be living on the cobbles anymore."

Connie’s exit is the second of the year, after Bhavna Limbachia also recently left screens.

Gina’s final scenes will air not long after she and Sally Metcalfe are injured in the factory collapse, as the roof caves in as they’re standing on top of it mid-argument.

While Gina’s character will survive the horror incident, the soap have confirmed that one popular character will not be so lucky.

It is not yet known who is set to fall victim to the tragedy.

Gina has been a Corrie regular since March 2017, and is best known for constantly bickering with sister Sally.

Connie took over the role after Julie Foy originally played Gina in 1988-1989.
