But Gail Platt (Helen Worth) owned her huge and age-defying lockdown locks on Wednesday night.
The 70-year-old’s lovely chestnut blonde hair with bangs created a youthful glow and certainly caught the attention of viewers.
Fans took to Twitter to express their admiration for Helen’s “much younger” appearance.
One fan exclaimed, “Gail looks younger again with long hair!”
While another joked, "If Gail's hair gets any bigger, it'll get its own acting credit in the end titles”.
Another said, “Absolutely loving Gail's longer hair, she never ages. An ageless queen!”
Many viewers acknowledged how Gail’s hair had “grown loads”- but, will she be chopping it off now that lockdown is over?
Gail recently was distraught by the news that her son, Nick Tilsley, went into hiding with Leanne and Simon without saying goodbye.
A shocked Gail couldn’t believe Nick left his newly found 10-year-old son, Sam and although she blames Leanne, Gail vowed to never forgive him.
Luckily, Gail is still able to have a relationship with her grandson as last night’s episode saw Natasha ask Gail to babysit.
An elated Gail asked for Sam to stay the night while she built bridges with Natasha.
Fans seemed to agree with Gail as they were also stunned by Nick’s rushed departure.
Expressing their fury with Nick’s decision to leave his son Sam and choose a life on the run, one fan wrote, “Nick choosing Leeanne over Sam disgusts me tbh. I'm glad to see the back of them! Good riddance!”
Another fan asked, “How could you leave little Sam?”
However, some fans are hopeful for Nick’s return as one said, “Nick won't leave Sam! He'll be back #Corrie.”
Will Nick, Leanne and Simon ever come back to the cobbles – and will Leanne go to the trial?
Coronation Street continues Friday at 7:30pm on ITV
